Top Reasons People Hate Organising Events
November 9, 2017
The number one reason that people hate organising events is the amount of time they take to organise. People are busier than ever so to squeeze more time out of your already extensive day is probably not your idea of fun.
There is quite a large amount of admin that goes into an event, more than people expect. Whether it’s completing contracts, chasing suppliers or organising finances – it would be a lot easier for someone else to do this for you.
3) SUPPLIER SEARCH & NEGOTIATION
This is something I’m asked most about; what suppliers should I use and can I negotiate on price? Firstly, yes, you can always negotiate on price. Events often come with quite tight budgets so talk to your suppliers about how you can work together to create the product/service you are looking for. Finding the right suppliers is important but can also take up a lot of your time. Often the best service comes via a recommended supplier so start asking your colleagues, friends or us to get started.
4) REMEMBERING THE LITTLE THINGS
‘Oh, I didn’t think of that…’ a sentence a lot of people say when they’re planning an event. The larger things, like booking a venue or choosing a date, come straight into people’s mind but there are so many little things to remember that can have a huge impact on the success of your event. Knowledge from an experienced Events Planner will ensure you don’t miss the things you can’t afford to leave out.
5) STRESS & SLEEP DEPRIVATION
Event planning is rather stressful and if you’re not someone who enjoys the process you can very quickly spiral into complete panic mode which then leads to sleepless nights. Here at MTH, we want to help relieve that stress so that you can enjoy your planning process. It also means you can enjoy the event itself and not worry if everything is going to plan.
6) IDEA GENERATION
A very common question is ‘what should this event look like?’ The idea generation process for your event can be very fun and exciting however it can also be the most frustrating and trying part. You have may none, a few or lots of ideas but you need guidance on how to pull it all together to really shift your event into the next gear – a creative Event Planner could be your saving grace!
